Word: Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast

11 Oct

If you read my spotlight this week on the blog Linz, Linz, Linz (thank you, Lindesy!) you now know that one of my favorite quotes comes from one of my favorite books, Through the Looking Glass, by Lewis Carroll:

The full quote goes like this:

“There’s no use trying,” said Alice. “One can’t believe impossible things.”

“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

I am definitely not a morning person (I’m pretty worthless before a cup of coffee), but I do love the idea of setting aside free time during the day, whether its five minutes or half-an-hour as the Queen of Hearts suggests, to daydream and let your imagination run wild.

Word: Perfectly Imperfect

16 Sep

“I live in organized chaos. That applies to beauty, my fashion, everything in my life. It’s perfectly imperfect. There is no such thing as perfection in my life. There’s always something awry. And I think that’s a good thing.”

Word: On Travel and Falling In Love

26 May

“We meet the places we wind up loving much the way we meet the people we fall for: on purpose and accidentally; at precisely the right moment and exactly the wrong time; in the highest of spirits and lowest of moods.”
