Eggcelent: Neon Dip-Dyed Easter Eggs

7 Apr

I haven’t dyed Easter eggs since I was a little girl, and lately I’ve been thinking it would be fun to do again. These neon dip-dyed eggs are right up my alley. Aren’t they rad?

I think it would be fun to host an Easter egg decorating party: Invite your girlfriends over for brunch (best to serve something other than eggs–how would you choose which poor suckers get eaten and which lucky ducks get beautified?), break out the bubbly (and Bounty), and let the dying begin!

Sealed With a Kiss: Sugar Paper Valentines

13 Feb

Every February I look forward to sending out (and shopping for) Valentine’s Day cards for my family and friends, and this year these letterpress lovelies by Los Angeles-based Sugar Paper have completely captured my heart.

The first time I stepped inside Sugar Paper’s darling shop in the Brentwood Country Mart while visiting a girlfriend in L.A., I fell deeply and madly in love. So it’s no surprise these Valentines set my heart aflutter.

{perfect for moi, no?}

Printed on antique machinery, the cards feature raspberry ink and gold foil. Don’t they look scrumptious enough to eat? Receiving one of these pretties in the mail would be such a treat. (I may even be tempted to send one to myself for the sheer joy of opening the raspberry and gold-foil lined envelope.)

Unfortunately, I’m too late this year to mail these in time for February 14th, but next year you best believe I’ll be buying these beauties, sealing them with a kiss, and sending them on their oh-so merry way.

Cue the Confetti! (And Champagne! And Sparkles!)

It’s gonna be a good year.

Fit For a Princess: Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress

4 May

I am still on a high from the Royal Wedding. There’s something so charming about the love story between Kate and Wills. I guess some times fairy tales do come true…

And the dress–I loved Kate’s dress, designed by fellow Brit Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. It was beautiful, elegant and timeless, much like the new princess herself. Thank god for Kate, and thank god for her gorgeous lace sleeves! There are wedding dress options beyond strapless, ladies!

Let’s not forget Kate’s sister and maid of honor Pippa and her equally gorgeous gown. Stunning is the only word that comes to mind. And I adore the idea of dressing your maid of honor, or bridesmaids, in white! Who says only the bride can wear white on the big day? Break free from tradition, brides!

Well done Middleton sisters, well done.

Chic Short J.Crew Skirts (say that ten times fast)

7 Feb

I have a thing for short skirts. I am dying for spring to arrive so I can shave my legs (properly, I mean—don’t worry, haven’t been letting the leg hairs grow all winter) and bust out my collection of short skirts.

Does your wardrobe needs some jazzing up for spring? One of this chic short skirts from J.Crew should do the trick. Flirty, fun and feminine, they’re sure to add a dose of style and dash of sass to your closet. Bonus: They’re all on sale!

Goodbye wool, hello feathers, florals, sequins and shine!

xoxo, Reese

(Pssst! Planning a wedding? Pick one of these skirts, pair it with a simple top + a statement necklace/killer pair of heels/cute flats, and voila! A super easy, super stylish alternative to bridesmaid dresses.)

I Got Hitched at The Ace Hotel Palm Springs

4 Feb

No, not really—I didn’t get married. But I did get hitched. Really.

See, last Sunday The (uber-amazing) Ace Hotel Palm Springs hosted the (amazingly inspiring) Hitched Event, and yours truly was in attendance.

First, let’s chat about the Ace…

In a word: rad. The decor and design, the super-friendly staff, the sunny location, the pool that’s open until the wee hours of the night and the $4 PBR tall boys (served poolside, no less), all make this hotel a top destination in my book. I would go back in a heartbeat. And I plan to. Very, very soon. Though not soon enough.

Second, a word about Hitched…

This sign says it all. A wedding showcase for brides and grooms (though many vendors, such as myself, wanted to get in on the action), Hitched is hands-down one of the coolest, smartest concepts to hit the wedding industry. The night was pure fun.

Highlights included a white ban.do caddy, mini cans of Sofia complete with pink straws, brown-bagged PBR (what groom wouldn’t die over this idea for his wedding?), a grilled cheese bar, truffle popcorn + cotton candy, a groom’s lounge featuring a barber shop + bow tying lessons + arcade games, a fashion show, The Flashdance, inventive tablescapes, false eyelashes, and a dance off. Oh, and synchronized swimmers. For realz.

Suffice to say, if I were getting married, following Hitched my head would be full of awesome ideas and inspiration, and I would be beyond excited to start planning said wedding. (And I would totes get hitched at the Ace Palm Springs, btw—such a cool venue!)

Another Hitched event is in the works, and rumor has it the shindig will take place in San Francisco next time around. Brides-to-be take note!

xoxo, Reese

Gone Hitching

3 Feb

Well, well, well…looks like I’m a little behind on updating the bloggy blog. Do forgive me. You see, I was gone last weekend at this UH-mazing wedding event called Hitched (or as the organizers refer to it, “one hell of a showcase event”) at the equally UH-mazing Ace Hotel Palm Springs.

I’m back in action but still catching up on my beauty sleep. (Too much sun, champagne and time spent on an airplane will do that to a girl.) I’ll be back soon with deets + pix from Hitched and the Ace, plus some rad new finds.

Hang tight. Sleep tight. Sweet dreams.

xoxo, Reese

A Dress Named Tess(ie)

26 Jan

Much like the fabulous Lauren Merkin purse named Tess, this darling dress named Tess(ie) is hard for me to resist…

Alice + Olivia’s one-shoulder Tessie wonder features a ruffled strap, tulle overlay, ruched waist and balloon hem. And get this: the color is Cham-freakin-pagne! This was totally meant to be.

Shopbop

Have I mentioned before how much I love short dresses and sparkling drinks? (especially when the two are combined)

xoxo, Reese

P.S. – Wouldn’t this frock rock as a short bridal dress/reception dress/cake cutting dress/bridesmaid dress?

Peppermint Julep, Please

6 Dec

I’m a big fan of mint juleps. Not a big fan of their calories and sugar. Forgo the cocktail this holiday season for this delightful peppermint julep floral arrangement from Olive & Cocoa.

A silver-tone julep cup is filled to the brim with pink and red roses, safari sunset, and burgundy magnolia leaves. So pretty you may want a second round.
